Abstract :Objective To study the effect of recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor gel (trade name: Beifuxin) combined with Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) on the healing of thyroid incision. Methods A total of 120 patients undergoing thyroid surgery were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 60 cases in each group. After the surgical incisions of the two groups were sutured, the patients in the control group were given Beifuxin to apply on the incision; the patients in the experimental group were given Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) on the basis of the control group. The incision healing and scar conditions of the two groups were compared. Results The incision healing time of the experimental group was (5.2±1.3) d shorter than that of the control group (7.1±2.4) d), and the visual analogue scale (VAS) score (3.3±0.3) points and the incidence of incision redness and swelling (5.00%) were lower than those of the control group (4.7±0.6) points and 16.67%, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). At 3 months postoperative follow-up, the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS), Observer Scar Scale (OSAS), and Patient Scar Scale (PSAS) scores of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); at 6 months postoperative follow-up, the VSS, OSAS, and PSAS scores of the two groups were lower than those of the 3-month follow-up, and the VSS score (2.3±0.5), OSAS score (6.4±1.9), and PSAS score (7.2±1.6) of the experimental group were lower than those of the control group (4.8±1.4), (15.3±3.6), and (16.3±3.1), and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Beifuxin combined with Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) can effectively promote the healing of thyroid postoperative incisions, shorten the healing time, and improve the patients' satisfaction with the healing of incisions.
