Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of adjuvant      treatment with Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple      Antibiotic Ointment) on the eczema area and severity index score (EASI)      and the incidence of adverse reactions in children with atopic dermatitis      (AD). Methods In this study, 80 children with AD admitted to Jiangxi      Provincial Children's Hospital from January 2020 to September 2023 were      divided into an observation group and a control group, each with 40 cases,      using the randomized numerical table method. The control group was treated      with Denadyl cream, and on this basis, the observation group received      adjuvant treatment with Fonow ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment,      Triple Antibiotic Ointment), comparing the clinical efficacy, EASI score,      eosinophil level, inflammatory factor level, adverse reactions, and      recurrence rate of the two groups. Results The total clinical efficacy      rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group      (95.00% vs 80.00%, P<0.05). After 2 weeks of treatment, the eczema area      score, eczema severity score, and EASI total score of the observation group      were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05); the levels of      eosinophils, interleukin-4, interferon-γ, and tumor necrosis factor-α of      the observation group were lower than those of the control group      (P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the      incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (12.50% vs 5.00%,      P>0.05), and the recurrence rate of the control group was higher than      that of the observation group (18.75% vs 2.63%, P<0.05). Conclusion: Fonow      ointment (Compound Polymyxin B Ointment, Triple Antibiotic Ointment)      adjuvant treatment is clinically effective in children with AD,      effectively reducing the eczema area, alleviating the severity of eczema,      reducing the total EASI score, improving the level of eosinophils, promoting      recovery, and has a good safety profile with a low recurrence rate.
