Abstract : Objective To explore the application effect of Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) in dressing changes of dog bite wounds. Methods 94 patients with dog bites admitted to Changping District Hospital in Beijing from January 2017 to December 2018 were selected. 94 research subjects were divided into a research group and a control group with 47 cases in each group using the random number table method. The control group adopted conventional trauma dressing changes, while the research group applied Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) during trauma dressing changes. The wound healing status, number of dressing changes, wound healing time, and incidence of wound infection were evaluated in the two groups. Results The total effective rate of wound healing in the study group was 95.74%, which was higher than the control group's 80.85% (P=0.013<0.05). The number of dressing changes and wound healing time in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P=0.021<0.05). The incidence rate of wound infection in the study group was 0.00%, which was lower than 12.77% in the control group (P=0.017<0.05). Conclusion Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) has significant application effects in dressing changes for dog bite wounds and is worthy of clinical application and promotion.
