Abstract :Objective To observe the effect of polymyxin B ointment on the incision after circumcision. Methods Eighty patients who underwent circumcision were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each group. The control group was bandaged with conventional vaseline gauze after surgery, while the observation group was bandaged with polymyxin B ointment gauze. The time of local swelling subsidence, wound healing time, complications after 1 week, and pain scores within 24 hours after surgery were compared between the two groups. Results The time of swelling subsidence and healing time of the incision in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, and the incidence of postoperative edema of the foreskin and frenulum, gauze adhesion, and poor wound healing were lower in the observation group than in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion The use of polymyxin B ointment gauze bandage for incision after circumcision can relieve the pain of penile erection after surgery, reduce the incidence of edema of the foreskin and frenulum, gauze adhesion, and poor wound healing , and shorten the time of swelling subsidence and healing time of the incision.
